Meet Amelia Shanahan
“Amelia believes that while our mental health is complex that treatment should be simpler. She focusses on listening to every client in a non-judgmental way to identify the root cause of the problems then tailors support and treatment to get the best results. Amelia goes above and beyond for her clients in treatment so they are genuinely cared for.”
Amelia Shanahan, Psychologist
Amelia is a registered psychologist qualified with a Masters in Clinical Psychology. She works with individuals aged 12 to adulthood, supporting them through challenges such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders, substance use and addiction, trauma, gender and sexuality issues, relationship difficulties, stress management, and life transitions. Her wealth of experience means she can work effectively with clients from a range of different backgrounds and lived experience.
Amelia takes a person-centered and flexible approach, meeting clients where they are —at any stage in life or point in their journey —to help them move forward. She works in a trauma-informed and neuroaffirming way, ensuring that therapy is a safe and validating experience. She tailors therapy to each client’s needs using evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She also incorporates Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT) to adjust sessions in real-time and engages clients through diverse learning methods, such as visuals, take-home resources, and practical activities. Put simply, Amelia really understands her clients and ensures that treatment includes what they need. Whether its the latest evidence-based treatment or take-away notes written down to help her client to remember. Amelia knows its the little things that makes clients feel cared for.
