Meet Liza Thoppil

“Liza believes that it takes courage to take the first step and engage in therapy. She is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and compassionate environment where you are accepted as you are and can feel that you are truly seen and heard”

Liza Thoppil, GP providing Therapy Services

Liza has been a GP for 18 years and has undergone additional Mental Health training to be able to deliver therapy services.  Even though Liza also currently works as a GP, her role at Psychology Outcomes is to provide therapy only. She is passionate about practising holistically and supporting her clients to improve their mental health.  As part of her approach she firmly believes that having healthy lifestyle habits help to prevent and manage illness and optimise wellbeing.  She supports her clients with a wide range of tools such as Psychoeducation, Relaxation Strategies, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).  These strategies are evidence based tools that can help to improve anxiety, low mood, low motivation, low self worth, relationship difficulties and more.

It is hard to seek help when you are not feeling good, it takes courage and trust to take that next step.  Liza feel privileged to be able to guide and offer a space to those who are seeking assistance when they are feeling fragile or vulnerable.  She offers a safe, nurturing and compassionate environment where you are accepted as you are and can feel that you are truly seen and heard.  Liza’s aim is to listen to your story, understand your goals and to provide you with tools and strategies tailored to your needs in order to reduce your distress and to improve your functioning and wellbeing.

Liza’s expertise

Therapy is a collaborative process so it is important to be prepared to try some of the strategies in order to reap the benefits.  Liza welcomes those with a genuine desire to take responsibility for improving their wellbeing.

Liza firmly believes that our thoughts create the reality we experience and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are.  These thoughts can at times be distressing and affect our peace and wellbeing.  She also believes that the most important relationship we will ever have is with ourselves.  She loves to help guide her clients towards self compassion and to strengthen this relationship to help them understand the values that matter to them, live in alignment with them and go onto flourish.  Seeing this happen brings her joy and is why she does this work.

Please note, Liza will not be able to see clients for other health matters or to prescribe medication. Any client needing support in these areas will need to consult with their usual GP.
